Day 1: Istanbul

Arrival in Istanbul, discovery and orientation in the city. Dinner and overnight in our 4* hotel.

Day 2: Istanbul

In the morning we propose the following: discovery of the Golden Horn. We admire the Roman-Byzantine rampart, followed by a visit to the Church of the Holy Savior in Chora, where we truly admire the beautiful mosaics of the Blessed Virgin, Jesus Christ and of the apostles.

A boat trip along the Strait from the Bosphorus to the Black Sea (optional (17€) will show us the beauties of both continents; both the European side and the Asian side, with their palaces, mosques and their yalis. two suspension bridges.

We take our lunch in a Turkish-Greek restaurant close to the Roman Circus.

After noon we will spend visiting Saint Sophia "Aya Sofia", respectively, church, mosque and museum – representing both for Christian and Muslim world. We admire the beautiful Ottoman Topkapi Palace (the visit to the Harem and the Shaft Chamber are payable additionally at the entrance).

At the end of the afternoon, we stroll in the Grand Bazaar to inhale the different oriental scents in the souks.

At the end of our day, we cross Bosporus, through Bosporus Bridge. We visit Scutari-Üsküdar and we take our dinner in Asian part of Istanbul. Later we leave for Ankara with Wagons List.

Day 3: Ankara – Hattusas – Amasya (376 km)

After breakfast in Wagoons Lits we depart via the Kizilirmak Valley to the capital of the Hittite Empire Hattusas and its monastic complex Yazilikaya; now it is a historic national park.

The main sights date back to the last period of the mighty Hittite sanctuary. In the park we can see the great temple at Asagi Sevir (temple No. 1), the fortification walls of the city with the colossal gates (the lions gate Arslanli, the gate Poterni and Yer, the King's gate Kral).

In Yukari Sevir we can admire the 31 temples, built on the rocky slopes of Nisan Hill, the Royal Palace, the Great Castle and other buildings.

The open-air temple of Yazilikaya, only trace of the Hittite Kingdom period, is located 5 km north-east of Bogazköy. It consists of two spaces: the small and the large gallery and was built taking advantage of the natural disposition of the local rocks.

The right wall of the main gallery depicts goddesses carved into the rock, while the left wall shows the image of the gods.

These two groups lead us to a back wall, the main one, which shows us the meeting of the God of time Tesup and his consort Goddess Hepatu.

In a typical village we may appreciate a Hittite midday meal prepared with dry herbs of the High Hittite scale.

In the afternoon we leave for Amasya, the birthplace of the famous geographer Strabon (1st century BC) and the place where the Turkish crown princes were trained.

Our charming hotel in Amasya (****) awaits us.

During the sunset we walk around the Yesil Irmak Valley and along the way we photograph the beautiful old wooden houses of Amasya, known as praised for their Ottoman style.

Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 4: Amasya – Zile – Cekerek -Bogaziliyan – Cappadocia (330 km)

After breakfast buffet we explore the city of Ferhat and Sirin, also known as 'City of the Crown', Amasya.

Admire the ancient houses, Hazeranlar Konagi, the Ethnographic Museum, the Greek-era royal tombs carved into the rock. But also the Amasya Castle, Burmali, the Mosque with the Spiral Minaret, the Mosque of Bayezit II and its Kulliye Medrese, the Gök Medrese, the bridges (Caglayan, Alcak, Kus), Darussifa – Bimarhane (mental hospital).

The Asmaya Museum, one of the most beautiful in Turkey, offers more than 27000 pieces, traces of 11 civilizations. Lunch at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon we drive through Turhal – Zile and visit the Zile Castle, site of the wars between Roman and Bridge inhabitants, also known for the famous quote of Roman Julius Caesar: "Veni, Vidi, Vinci". Then we drive to Cekerek, Sorgun, Bogazliyan and to Cappadocia, one of the most enchanting landscapes in the world.

Dinner and overnight in our hotel (****).

Day 5: Cappadocia

After breakfast buffet, we will visit the ancient houses of Ürgüp and continue through the Valley of Roses, the Valley of Camels, the Valley of the Virgin Mary. Then we enjoy a leisure program to discover different handicrafts (Carpet buttons, nomadic culture and imperial palaces).

During lunch we taste the 'Cömlek Kebab', regional specialty, in a typical restaurant with a beautiful view of the Kizilirmak River.

In the afternoon we contemplate the strange and wonderful landscapes of Cappadocia, with the so peaceful and picturesque old village of Mustafapasa, formerly known by the name of Sinasos. We continue with the Valley of Cemil-Taskinpasa-Soganli of the two architects of the region, with the volcanoes Erciyes and Hasandag. In Soganli we will see the artisan dolls with traditional cloths, handmade from line, especially gloves and socks with Anatolian shapes. Dinner and overnight at our hotel.

Day 6: Cappadocia, the Holy Land of Christianity according to the Revelation of Saint John

After our open buffet breakfast, walking tours through the three Cappadocian graces, Üc Güzeller, the Pigeon Valley, Uchisar, Avcilar. Visit to an onyx workshop, leather factory.

Lunch at the hotel or at the Koru restaurant buffet.

In the afternoon we visit the valley of Göreme, the open-air museum. With the lights of the late afternoon, we can admire primitive Christian art and Byzantine rich art through different churches: Tokali-Elmali-Saint Basil, Yilanli-Sandal with the monasteries of the priests and priestesses, a religious campus the only one in the world, place of reception, refuge, prayer of the apostles, of the first Christians, of the 40 Cappadocian Fathers, of St. Paul, St. John, St. Timothy, St. Barnabas, Gregory of Nazianzen and St. Basil.

Dinner and overnight at our hotel.

7th Day: Cappadocia Ankara - Wagon List

After breakfast buffet we leave for Ankara. On the way we will visit underground city in Saratli and Salt Lake. In Ankara, our guide will lead us to visit the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations. It is the prize winner museum of the World Museums in 1995. There is also a conference in the museum about these civilizations.

Next, we will visit old part of Ankara: the citadel, Konak, Boyacizade, Zenger Pacha, Ethnographic Museum and spice market. Lunch at Hacibey, a traditional Döner Kebab restaurant.

After lunch we take photo of Ataturk Mausoleum among others. Dinner at Keykan or Kent Hotel. Departure for Istanbul with Wagon-Lits.

Day 8: Istanbul-Europe

After breakfast in our Wagon List (or in our hotel) we have free time in Istanbul until transfer time to the airport.
