Day 1: Europe-Istanbul-Bzantine Land and Sea Walls

Upon arrival in Istanbul, you will take an orientation bus ride on the way to your hotel. We drive along large parts of the formidable Byzantine land and sea walls that were only breached in 1453 by Mehmet the Conqueror.

Dinner and first of four nights in our Hotel 4*-Boutique or equivalent.

Day 2: Eyüp-Mausoleum district of Eyup-Pierre Loti-Chora Church-Hagia Sofia-Topkapi Palace-Harem

Today we will explore the Golden Horn by bus. We start in the Eyüp district, a place where Muslims come to visit the mausoleum of the standard bearer of the Prophet Mohamet. Above the large Islamic cemetery is the famous café of Pierre Loti, the French army officer who lost his romantic heart to a forbidden love. Then we walk along the Byzantine wall to the Chora Church/Kariye Camii with its world-famous mosaic cycle depicting scenes from the Old and New Testaments.

Yedikule and the land walls. In Panorama 1453 we experience the last day of the Eastern Roman Empire.

Lunch in a "Greek" restaurant close to the hippodrome. In the afternoon, the Hagia Sofia and the Topkapi Palace with Harem.

Perhaps we still have some time left to stroll through the large Covered Bazaar. We will have dinner in Kumkapi, a neighborhood famous for its excellent fish restaurants. Overnight in our Hotel 4*-Boutique or equivalent.

Day 3: Cirkus Maximus-Ibrahim Pacha Palace-Yerebatan Cistern- Egyptian and Chache market- Blue Mosque Boat Tour on Bosphorus

At the hippodrome we discuss the remains of what was once the Circus Maximus and the Nika Rebellion under Emperor Justinian and Empress Theodora. Visit to the Hippodrome, to the Ibrahim Pascha Palace and its Ethnographic Museum. Afterwards, walk through the historic Sultanhamet district and visit the Blue Mosque.

We have lunch in the Mesopotamian restaurant Gilgamesh, known for its south-eastern Turkish cuisine. Then we enter the wonderful Yerebatan cistern underground, a huge Byzantine water reservoir.

Afternoon: visit to the Egyptian and Chache market.

Saffron, caviar and Turkish delight await in the Egyptian Spice Bazaar, we also see Mahmut Pacha's Brocanterie Market.

Boat trip on the Bophorus; we sail under the two suspension bridges that connect Europe to Asia and admire the priceless yalis and the sultan's palaces such as the Beylerbey and the incomparable Dolmahbaçe palace. Possibility of acquaintance with the cultural Turkish products: carpets, gold and silverware, leather goods.

Dinner and overnight in a 4* boutique hotel or similar.

Day 4: Istanbul-Ankara-Salt Lake-Archelais Aksaray

Morning: Departure for Ankara along the picturesque road of the Black Sea – Pont Euxin. Discovery of the desert landscapes of Central Anatolia.

On our arrival in Ankara,

Lunch at Hacibey, a traditional doner kebab restaurant.

Afternoon: Museum of Anatolian Civilizations, one of the highest points of our journey, prize winner museum of the World Museums in 1995.

In the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations and Museum we see a very interesting cuneiform letter written by a Hittite woman to her husband who works abroad, she speaks of her mother-in-law.

After passing through the Salt Lake, we arrive at Aksaray, Seljuk medieval town for dinner and overnight. On the way, picking up salts, rock crystals and the old inland sea, contemplating geese, ducks, partridges, wild larks, flamingos, turtles; herds or shovels of Karaman, goats of Angora, hares, rabbits, perhaps Cappadosian wolves.

Day 5: Aksaray-Acemhöyük- Cappadocia - Land of Beautiful Horses

Morning: visit to the Seljuk city of Aksaray with its Pizz Tower and its Grand Mosque.

Departure for Acemhöyük, first capital of the Hittite Empire and one of the three main Assyrian commercial banks.

Discovery of the place through the Rich Palaces: Sarikaya-Hatiplar, through the Graveyard of Enver Aribas.

Strolling around the village, dialogue with the inhabitants of Acemöyük in the typical cafes of the village.

Lunch with the residents or in the Town Hall of the village.

Afternoon: walk in the Melendiz Canyon, through the Peristreme Valley: Selime-Belisirma-Ihlara with its primitive rock churches of the first part of Christianity.

Agzikarakah of Silk Road welcome you by his camels, mules.

Alevit wine tasting with residents of the Underground City of Saratli.

Dinner and overnight in Cappadocia.

Day 6: Cappadocia - Holy Land of Christianity

Walking tours through a number of valleys with beautifully eroded tuff formations; the Rose Valley and a visit to a tapestry school. Lunch at the hotel or in a typical local restaurant.

In the afternoon we visit Göreme valley, the open-air museum surrounded by churches. We can admire the primitive Christian art and the Byzantine frescoes in various churches. This is followed by a delicious dinner with a folkloric dance evening. Overnight in our hotel 4*.

Day 7: Cappadocia – Hacibektas- Kayseri- Ankara (320 km)

After breakfast we enjoy time to walk in Pasabag and visit Avanos. Excavations show that Avanos, located on the Kizilirmak River, has a long history dating back to the Bronze Age. Avanos has been known as a pottery region since the time of the Hittites.

Then we drive to the Alevi pilgrimage site of Hacibektas. The city is named after the 13th-century mystic Haci Bektas Veli, who is considered the founder of the Bektashi order. Alevism, Bektashism and Sufism see Ali as the doorway to the mystical knowledge and esoteric interpretation of Islam, as carried to him by Muhammad: Esedullah-Asadullah (Lion of God). About a quarter of the Turkish population is Alevi. Alevism is a branch of Shiite Islam. The emphasis is much less on laws and regulations, but all the more on respect for other people regardless of religion, race, origin and gender. We visit the mausoleum, visit the museum and get to know the soft side of Islam in the Mausoleum of Haci Bektaşi Veli.

10th Muharrem, the Day of Ashura: Huseyn bin Ali, Little Son of Mohamed was killed in Kerbela.

On the way in Kayseri (ancient Caesarea), at the Seljuk fortress, we can admire the Huant Medrese with its archaeological Museum, the Grand Mosque-Honata Hatun Mosque and Medrese of Sahabiye.

In the south we find the Döner Kümbet, a very classic mausoleum of a Seljuk princess (1276) the first Seljuk anatomy school and the Museum of medical history Gevher Nesibe.

Lunch is in Kayseri with local specialties. Dinner and overnight in Ankara, the hotel 4* or 5*.

Day 8: Ankara

After breakfast buffet, enjoy free time in Ankara until transfer to the airport for your return flight. End of an intensely varied journey.
