Day 1: Europe – Ankara

 

Arrival in Ankara. Reception and transfer to your hotel 4*-5* charm boutique for welcome drink, dinner and overnight stay.

 

Day 2: Ankara

 

After the breakfast buffet, our guide will lead us to visit the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations, prize winner museum of the World Museums in 1995.

In the Museum of the Anatolian Civilizations Museum, we see a very interesting cuneiform letter written by a Hittite woman to her husband who works abroad, she speaks of her mother-in-law.

We continue our journey with a visit to Old Ankara, to the citadel, to Konak Boyacizade, to the Zenger Pacha Ethnographic Museum, and then to the Spice Market. Lunch at Hacibey, a traditional doner kebab restaurant.

After lunch we will visit Atatürk's Mausoleum and nearby museum with its photography exhibition, reminder of the most important moments of his life and of the foundation of the Republic.

Day 3: Ankara – Hattusas – Alacahöyük - Amasya (376 km)

 

After breakfast we depart through the Kizilirmak Valley to Hattusas one of UNESCO's World Heritage Sites in Turkey, the capital of the Hittites, rivals of Ancient Egypt and for the even older Alacahöyük. The main sights date back to the last period of the mighty Hittite sanctuary. Until Yazilikaya, we can see the great temple at Asagi Sevir (Temple No. 1), the fortification walls of the city with the colossal gates (the Lion Gate Arslanli, the Gate Poterni and Yer, the King Gate Kral), the Underground Gate, the King Gate and the Pantheon -Yazilikaya. In Hattusas we also discuss the world of the gods as depicted on the rock reliefs of the cult resort of Yazilikaya.

In Yukari Sevir we admire the remains of 31 temples.

The open-air rock temple of Yazilikaya is located 5 km northeast of Bogazköy.

In a typical village we sit down for a spicy Hittite lunch.

Then we are in Alacahöyük.

Alacahöyük is an important archeological site in Central Turkey that has seen habitation from 5500 to 600 BC. shows. The ruin hill is located 36 km north of Bogazkale and 52 km south of Çorum. The most movable finds are housed in the museum in Ankara, but the place itself also has a small museum. It was an important city under the Hattians and their successors the Hittites.

In the afternoon we leave for Amasya, the birthplace of the famous geographer Strobo (first century BC) and the place where the Turkish crown princes were trained.

We experience the sunset on the edge of the Yesil Irmak and we photograph the beautiful old wooden Ottoman houses of Amasya.

Day 4: Amasya – Zile – Cekerek – Bogaziliyan – Cappadocia (330 km)

 

After breakfast buffet we explore the city of Ferhat and Sirin, also known as 'City of the Crown', Amasya.

Admire the old houses, Hazeranlar Konagi, the Ethnographic Museum, the Greek-era royal tombs carved into the rock. But also, the Amasya Cupboard eel, Burmali, the Mosque with the Spiral Minaret, the Mosque of Bayezit II and its Kulliye Medrese, the Gök Medrese, the bridges (Caglayan, Alcak, Kus), Darussifa – Bimarhane (psychiatric hospital).

The Asmaya Museum, one of the most beautiful in Turkey, displays 27,000 pieces from eleven different periods of civilization. Lunch at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon we drive through Turhal – Zile and visit the Zile Castle, where Julius Caesar concluded his umpteenth military campaign with Veni, Vidi, Vinci. Then we drive to Cappadocia, one of the most enchanting landscapes in the world.

Day 5: Cappadocia

 

After breakfast buffet, we will visit the ancient houses of Ürgüp and continue through the Valley of Roses, the Valley of Camels, the Valley of the Virgin Mary.

Afterwards we discover various old crafts: Carpet weaving, nomadic cultural objects, an onyx workshop.

This afternoon we eat 'Cömlek Kebab', another regional specialty, with a beautiful view of the Kizilirmak River.

In the afternoon we visit the underground city of Ozkonak or Derinkuyu then The former Sinassos is now called Mustafapasa, it testifies to what is known in the Greek history books .. We continue to Soganli , the volcanoes Erciyes and Hasandag never lose sight of us ..

Day 6: Cappadocia, the Holy Land of Christianity according to the Revelation of Saint John

 

Walking tours through a number of valleys with beautifully eroded tuff formations

In the afternoon we will visit Göreme valley, the open-air museum surrounded by churches. In the late afternoon we can admire primitive Christian art and Byzantine frescoes in several churches.

This is followed by a delicious dinner with a folkloric dance evening. Overnight in our hotel 4*,5* charm.

 

Day 7: Cappadocia – Kayseri – Ankara (320 km)

 

After breakfast we enjoy free time for hiking in Pasabag, part of the famous valley of Zelve. On the way to Kayseri (ancient Caesarea), we have the opportunity to visit a leather goods factory.

At the Seljuk fortress we can admire the Huant Medrese with its archaeological Museum and the Grand Mosque-Honata Hatun Mosque.

In the south we find the Döner Kümbet, a very classic mausoleum of a Seljuk princess (1276) the first Seljuk anatomy school and the Museum of medical history Gevher Nesibe.

We also admire the Medrese of Sahabiye and we walk through the city square to the covered and the Grand Mosque.

Day 8: Ankara

 

After breakfast buffet, enjoy free time in Ankara until transfer to the airport for your return flight. End of an intensely varied journey.
